Proprietors Platon and Janet Mantheakis met at Eugene's Poppi's Greek Restaurant in 1980 as a hopeful young immigrant and a college-student waitress. Several years later, they relocated to the Rogue Valley to raise a family.

Platon has provided expert restaurant service in the Rogue Valley for over 30 years in restaurant management, catering, and cooking. He first learned his extensive knowledge in cooking from his Greek grandmothers and community in east Africa. Including experience in cooking Indian and Tanzanian dishes of east Africa, his passion lies in the delicacies of the islands of the Mediterranean.


Janet's culinary interests were mentored by her father, whose cooking talents were once featured in a weekly segment on a local television show. Growing and selling produce and baked goods in the beautiful Applegate valley for many years, Janet develops our own sauces, jellies, and desserts  for our catering when she's not teaching in the Medford school district. 

Platon's Kitchen was developed from a passion for sharing delicious, dynamic, and nourishing recipes made with love. Thank you for your interest and we hope we can be a part of your next dinner party or event, providing a remarkable and memorable culinary experience.
